Here is a headline from the Personal Journal section of the Wall St. Journal on March 13: “The Return of the Popped Collar, Should you pop like it’s 1933?”. This upturned collar preppy look from the early 1980s is back. All sorts of designers and brands are showing this in men’s clothes, including Emporio Armani, Hermes and J. Crew. They are showing this in shirts, polo shirts, overcoats, sport coats and suits. It is also a style trend for women’s shirts, as shown in the J. Crew catalog.
Indoors, this upturned collar is supposed to look like you didn’t mean to do it – that it is unintentional. One word of warning, however, you need to do this just right or you run the risk of looking affected. Outside, it is easier to get away with wear your lapels on your coat or jacket popped up as another defense against the elements.
Some of this is meant to show off interesting patterns or designs under the collar and when you roll up your sleeve. For instance, Robert Graham makes some beautiful shirts with contrasting patterns on
the cuff and collar.
What’s up to every one, because I am truly keen of reading this
weblog’s post to be updated daily. It includes nice information.
